Edward LearThe Europa story is done. It’s science fiction, a story about a crash landing and then an alien encounter. Or is it?

I wrote it for one market, but now that the story’s done, I don’t think it will work there. I’ll have to think of something else to do with it. Hm. This makes me wonder a bit about controlling characters. You think, as the writer, that you have absolute power, that you can force characters into whatever you want them to do, but sometimes they pull off a rebellion. Sometimes they’re bound and determined that they’re going to do what THEY want, instead. Writer, do not enslave your characters. Let them go free!
